Founders between two countries

A growing body of research looks at founders who build across their country of origin and their new home. Support systems have yet to catch up.

Transnational entrepreneurs run businesses that depend on regular activity in more than one country: importing from one and selling in another, managing teams in both, or investing back home.

For researchers this raises measurement problems, since most business data captures a firm in one place only. For support organizations it raises practical ones: which country’s rules apply, and who should help?

The Lab’s working paper on transnational ventures sets out the questions we think matter most.
